Apostolic Insight

Purpose can begin with noticing what everyone else has learned to walk past.

When Joseph was in prison, he also had problems of his own.

He had been falsely accused, separated from his family, and confined for something he did not do. Yet one morning, he noticed that two other prisoners looked troubled.

Think about that.

Pain had not made Joseph so absorbed in himself that he stopped seeing other people. He asked: “Why look ye so sadly to day?”

That simple question opened a conversation that eventually became connected to Joseph’s own deliverance.

Purpose often requires attentiveness.

1). Who looks different today?

2). Who has gone unusually quiet?What problem keeps appearing? 

3). What need is everyone discussing but nobody addressing?

We can become so focused on reaching our destination that we fail to notice the tasks sitting beside us.

Although Joseph could not leave the prison that day, he could still be useful inside it.

Never assume that an uncomfortable season has suspended your usefulness.

Ponder This:

What might I notice if I became more attentive to the people around me?

Declaration

■ My circumstances will not make me insensitive to others.

■ God gives me eyes to recognize needs and wisdom to respond appropriately.

#PrayerOfAgreement:

Father, thank You for making me attentive, and also keeping disappointment from turning my focus entirely inward.

Help me recognize the people, needs, and opportunities You place within my reach.

While I wait for change in my own circumstances, keep my life useful to You.
