YOU WERE NOT SAVED JUST FOR YOURSELF

Scripture Anchor:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 KJV

Salvation is gloriously personal Christ saves you, Forgives you;Reconciles you to God; Gives you eternal life; But salvation was never intended to produce a believer whose entire Christian life revolves around:

Me. My breakthrough. My protection. My blessing. My deliverance. My victory.

There is more: We are saved by grace through faith not by our works. Then the very next verse tells us that we are God’s workmanship, “created in Christ Jesus unto good works.” Grace that saves us also brings us into a life with purpose.

LOOK BEYOND YOURSELF

Spiritual growth should eventually enlarge our capacity to serve: What you have learned can encourage somebody, what God brought you through can become a testimony, and the compassion developed through your own pain can help you recognize another person’s pain.

The truth that made you free can be shared with someone still struggling, and the comfort you received can make you more capable of comforting others.

The wisdom you gained can help you avoid condemning someone who is still learning what experience has already taught you.

Growth should make us more useful, not merely more knowledgeable.

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE MOVES OUTWARD

Jesus said:

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”
  Matthew 28:19 KJV

That commission belongs to the Church, and participation in it does not require everybody to become a missionary, pastor, evangelist, or public teacher.

You can carry Christ into your family, the workplace, your neighborhood, friendships, your online interactions,  hospital room, grocery store, and into a conversation with somebody who simply needs to be heard.

There are times when witnessing is proclamation,  times when it can be testimony, or times when it is simply as answering a sincere question.

Witnessing can sometimes be a practical service that creates an opportunity for someone to experience Christian love.

However, somewhere along the way, a maturing believer must begin asking:

Who besides me is benefiting from what God is developing in me?

CARRY IT

Do not underestimate ordinary opportunities; you do not need an audience. All you need is to be available.

You do not need to know everything, other than to faithfully represent what you do know about God.

You do not need to force conversations, you just  need sensitivity to recognize the doors God opens.

And you certainly do not need to treat people as evangelistic projects, but simply Love them as humans.

Listen, serve, pray; speak truth when opportunity comes, tell what Christ has done, and let your conduct support your confession.

Know that you have received something worth carrying.

MONDAY WARFARE PRAYER

Father, thank You for saving me by Your grace through faith in Christ Jesus.

Thank You for every way You have taught, corrected, strengthened, delivered, comforted, and matured me.

I refuse a Christianity that ends with myself.

Open my eyes to see the people You have placed within my reach, and fill me with compassion without compromise, boldness without arrogance, and discernment without suspicion.

Help me to be sensitive to opportunities to serve, encourage, pray, testify, and speak of Jesus Christ, and let what You have developed in me become useful in Your hands.

Help my words and conduct to agree, and let my life point beyond me to Christ.

Teach me to freely give, as I have freely received, In Jesus’ matchless name. Amein.

PONDER THIS

Who besides you is benefiting from what God has been developing in you?

CARRY IT.
