PRESERVED FOR PURPOSE
Scripture Anchor:
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
Matthew 5:14 KJV
We begin November with gratitude. God has kept, corrected, taught, and He has strengthened us.
He has brought us through seasons that developed wisdom, discernment, endurance, and spiritual maturity.
But today we remember: What God develops in us is not intended to end with us. Just as Light has a purpose beyond itself.
Jesus said:“Ye are the light of the world.” There are people around us who need more than another Christian opinion; They need to encounter the truth, love, mercy, holiness, compassion, and transforming power of Jesus Christ.
And sometimes their first close encounter with those things will be through one of us. So before we enter another week, we pray:
Father, I will not allow preservation to become self-preoccupation.
LET US PRAY
Father, thank You for preserving my life and establishing me in Christ.
Thank You for every truth You have taught me, every correction that has matured me, every trial through which You strengthened me, and every place where Your grace has helped me grow.
Now turn my eyes outward. Do not allow me to become so occupied with my own needs, battles, protection, progress, and responsibilities that I stop seeing the people around me.
Help my eyes to notice, and my ears to listen. Give me compassion that moves beyond sentiment, and courage to speak when You provide opportunity.
Help me know when listening is the ministry required, and let my life make the Gospel visible.
Make me attentive to the needs of others and to willingly give encouragement or practical help when I am able to give it.
Help me to be available when someone needs prayer. And when someone needs to hear about Jesus Christ, embolden me to minister without arrogance and to present truth without cruelty.
Guard my heart from contempt, my mouth from careless words, and my witness from conduct that contradicts the Christ I proclaim.
I refuse to see people merely as arguments to win, positions to oppose, labels to condemn, or problems to avoid.
Help me remember that every person I encounter is a soul for whom Christ died.
AS I ENTER THIS WEEK
I will carry Christ into conversations, into my home, my work, my community, into my online interactions and into places where nobody knows my title, ministry role, church affiliation, or spiritual history.
Let the evidence of Christ in me be more than what I say I believe, and let Him be seen in how I speak, how I treat people, handle disagreement, respond when offended, and also in how I serve, forgive, tell the truth, and how I love others.
Father God, help me become a faithful witness, who has been preserved for purpose.
Your light You in me will shine brighter, In Jesus’ matchless name. Amein.
THIS WEEK, REMEMBER
You do not need to have a platform before you can represent Christ, for your mission field can begin with the next person you encounter.
PONDER THIS
Who might encounter something of Jesus Christ this week because they encountered you?
CARRY IT.
