Scripture Anchor:
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”
Matthew 28:19 KJV
The Great Commission was not given to the Church only for seasons when the world is receptive.
Jesus did not say: Go when people agree with you. Go when Christianity is respected.
Go when the culture shares your values.Go when nobody opposes you.
He said:
“Go ye therefore…”
The environment may change. The assignment does not.
WE HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED FROM THE MISSION
It is easy to become so occupied with what is wrong in the world that we forget why Christ left His Church in the world.
We can identify darkness, Discuss darkness, Condemn darkness.Warn one another about darkness.Study darkness. And still fail to carry light into it.
Spiritual discernment that never produces faithful Christian action is incomplete.
Jesus did not commission us merely to identify what is wrong with people.
He commissioned us to make disciples.
That means somewhere in our Christianity there must still be room for the person who does not yet believe, who does not understand, whose life is broken, whose worldview troubles us, who may initially reject what we say. And who needs Christ.
CARRY TRUTH TOWARD PEOPLE
We do not change the Gospel to make it acceptable, neither do we make ourselves unnecessarily offensive and then call rejection persecution.
There is a difference.
The Gospel itself will confront sin and Truth will challenge beliefs. Christ calls people to repentance. Our responsibility is to communicate that truth faithfully while representing the character of the One who sent us.
Truth does not become weaker because it is carried with love.
MIDWEEK CHECK
When you look at people whose lives or beliefs differ sharply from yours, what rises first?
Contempt, fear, anger, suspicion? Or an awareness that this is still someone Christ came to save?
We can oppose error without despising people, refuse compromise without abandoning compassion.
We can stand firmly upon Scripture while remembering: The Great Commission still stands.
PRAYER
Father, keep Your commission alive in my heart. Do not allow cultural conflict, disappointment, fear, anger, or spiritual complacency to make me forget why the Church remains in the world.
I ask for courage to speak truth faithfully, wisdom to communicate it well, and compassion for those who do not yet know Christ.
Deliver me from contempt disguised as discernment and hostility disguised as boldness, and Let my life and words faithfully represent Jesus Christ.
The Great Commission still stands. And I remain available to Your purpose.
In Jesus’ matchless name. Amein.
PONDER THIS
Have you become better at identifying what is wrong with the world than at recognizing opportunities to carry Christ into it?
CARRY IT.
Shalom,
Hephzibah Christly,
