Scripture Anchor:

“And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant?… I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.” Numbers 11:11, 14 KJV

Apostolic Insight:

Not everything you are carrying belongs in your hands. Moses was  overwhelmed, and he talked to God about it.  There is something refreshingly honest about Numbers chapter eleven..

Moses plainly talked about his exhaustion without religious jargon,  God told him to gather seventy elders, and He distributed responsibility among them.

The problem was not simply that Moses needed greater endurance, the load needed adjustment.

That distinction matters.

Oftentimes, we pray for strength to continue carrying something God is actually telling us to share. 

Maturity does not  mean handling everything ourselves. Although some burdens belong to us, others should be shared, or delegated.

And some burdens were never ours to bear in the first place.

Spiritual self-care requires periodical examination of the load.

Ask yourself:

1). Am I carrying this because God assigned it?

2). Am I carrying this because nobody else volunteered?

3). Am I carrying this because I find it difficult to say no?

4). Am I carrying this because I do not trust anyone else to do it?

5). Am I carrying this because being needed has become part of my identity?

You cannot steward your strength wisely if you continually accept responsibility without discernment.

It will help tremendously to often pray,  “Lord, show me what I should put down”, instead of “Lord, make me stronger.”

Ponder This:

What am I presently carrying that needs to be shared, delegated, or released?

Declaration:

I will carry what God assigns without assuming responsibility for everything around me.

I receive wisdom to share, delegate, and release appropriately.

Father, thank You for re-examining the load I am carrying.

Show me what belongs to my assignment, and where pride has prevented me from receiving help, correct me.

I renounce the fear that has prevented me from delegating, and I cast out guilt that has made me carry responsibilities You never assigned.

 I receive wisdom for delegating assignments, grace for accomplishing tasks, and strength to reduce the workload.  I declare my release from guilt. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, Amein.

Standing With Those Who Know Something Must Change

SCRIPTURE ANCHOR

“The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.”  Proverbs 21:25 KJV

TODAY’S FOCUS

Some situations require us to wait upon God; others require us to act upon what we already know. Sometimes, a conversation needs to happen, an appointment needs to be made, a habit needs to change, help needs to be requested, and responsibility needs attention.

Prayer is not a substitute for obedience or responsible action. Today, we pray for the wisdom and courage to recognize our next step, and take it.

TODAY’S PRAYER FOCUS

1) Clarity: Pray to recognize what is genuinely beyond our control and what God has already placed within our responsibility.

2) Courage: Pray for strength to address matters we have postponed.

3) Discipline: Stand against procrastination, avoidance, and patterns that undermine progress.

4) Wise action: Pray that our next steps will be thoughtful, responsible, and consistent with God’s Word.

Give us wisdom to recognize what requires prayerful waiting and what requires responsible action.

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”  Proverbs 4:23 KJV

Have you noticed how careful we are about who gets access to certain things?

We lock our homes, protect our passwords, and secure important documents. We do not hand in our bank information to everybody who asks. Yet sometimes we are remarkably careless about what gets access to our heart and mind.

Not all conversations deserve continued residence in your thoughts. Nor does all opinion deserve consideration. So also not all criticism deserves investigation, and not all offense deserves rehearsal. Not everybody who speaks automatically deserves influence.

Guarding your heart does not mean you become suspicious, unreachable, or afraid of people. It simply means you learn to filter what enters and what remains.

Things can enter your ears and not be given permission to settle in your heart. You can hear an opinion without adopting it, experience an offense without rehearsing it for three weeks, receive criticism without allowing it to redefine you.

You can also know what is happening in the world without allowing everything happening in the world to govern your peace.

Be careful what you give continued access to because what remains within us, eventually influences thought processes, speech, decisions and responses.

Remember: Access is not the same as authority. Something reached you; that does not mean it gets to control you.

Warfare Prayer

Father, thank You for the wisdom to guard what You have entrusted to me. Sharpen my discernment concerning what I permit to remain in my thoughts and heart.

I reject every offense, opinion, fear, accusation, and distraction that seeks to control me. I declare that my heart will remain ruled by Your Word, my mind disciplined by truth, and my peace protected by wisdom.

What reaches me will not automatically rule me. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, Amein.
