“But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands…”Exodus 17:12 KJV
Apostolic Insight
Sometimes God’s answer arrives carrying someone else’s hands. Moses was doing something important. As long as his hands remained raised, Israel prevailed in battle. But his hands became heavy.
Notice what Scripture does not say.
It does not say Moses rebuked his arms for lacking faith. He did not hide his fatigue from Aaron and Hur. He did not insist, “God gave me this assignment, so nobody can help me.”
They brought him a stone to sit upon, then they held up his hands. The assignment remained Moses’ assignment. But he did not fulfill it alone.
There are seasons when receiving help is part of obedience. We can become so accustomed to being the strong person, the helper, the caregiver, the intercessor, the leader, or the dependable one that receiving support feels uncomfortable.
But strength does not mean never needing anyone, sometimes wisdom sits down on the stone somebody brought.
Sometimes humility lets another person hold up the hand that has become tired.Receiving help does not diminish your calling.
It can help preserve you within it.
Ponder This:
Do I give others permission to help me, or am I comfortable only when I am the one giving?
Declaration:
I declare that I can give and receive with humility.
I recognize godly support as part of God’s provision for my journey.
Prayer of Agreement:
Father, thank You for the people You place along my journey.
Deliver me from pride that refuses help and dependence that refuses responsibility.
Give me discernment to recognize trustworthy support and humility to receive it when needed.
Strengthen the hands that have grown weary and teach me to do the same for others.
In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, Amein.
