Scripture Anchor:

“And we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work. Nehemiah 4:15 KJV

Apostolic Insight:

Not every season of life feels exciting.

The builders had faced threats. They had been interrupted and security arrangements had to change. Some worked while others guarded.

The atmosphere was hardly ideal.

Then comes this wonderfully ordinary sentence: “We returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.”

Sometimes faithfulness looks like returning to the work: No dramatic breakthrough, no new revelation, no applause: Just returning.

Doing life includes ordinary Tuesdays, revisions, repeated tasks, maintenance, follow-up and doing again what yesterday did not finish.

Refinement develops the capacity to remain faithful after the excitement of beginning has disappeared.

There is holiness in consistency. Some things God has assigned will be accomplished not through one spectacular moment but through hundreds of ordinary acts of obedience.

Return to the wall. There is still work to do.

Ponder This:

Have I mistaken lack of excitement for lack of purpose?

Declaration:

■ I remain faithful in ordinary seasons.

■ Consistency will accomplish what enthusiasm alone cannot sustain.

Prayer of Agreement:

Father, strengthen me for the ordinary work of obedience.

Deliver me from constantly needing excitement to remain engaged.

I choose discipline, patience, and joy in the responsibilities You have entrusted to me.

I return faithfully to my portion of the wall.
