“And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. Thou wilt surely wear away…”
Exodus 18:17–18 KJV
Apostolic Insight:
Oftentimes, exhaustion is not proof of devotion. It is evidence that something needs to change.
Moses was helping people from morning until evening. It sounded admirable, but Jethro called it “not good.”
Why?
Because Moses had made himself the answer to too many things. His intention was good, but his system was unsustainable.
Jethro advised him to teach others, distribute responsibility, and reserve his strength for what genuinely required him.
That is not merely leadership advice. It is spiritual wisdom. Some of us become overwhelmed because we keep carrying responsibilities that could be taught, shared, delegated, or released.
Being needed can even become addictive if we are not careful. Remember that purpose is not proven by exhaustion.
If an assignment collapses whenever you rest, perhaps God is inviting you to build differently. Moses needed capable people around him.
So do we.
Ponder This:
What am I carrying alone that should be taught, shared, delegated, or released?
Declaration:
● I serve with wisdom, not needless exhaustion.
● I receive grace to share responsibility without guilt or control.
#PrayerOfAgreement:
Father, thank You for giving me wisdom to steward my strength.
Show me what requires my attention and what should be entrusted to others.
I receive deliverance from controlling what I should release and from carrying what You never asked me to carry alone.
I will establish healthy cooperation around every assignment You have given me.
In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, Amein.
Shalom,
