Scripture Anchor

“And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.” 1 Samuel 23:16 KJV

Apostolic Insight:

Your strength is multiplied when it helps someone else become strong.

David was hiding from Saul, and Jonathan could not remove the danger. He could not instantly change David’s circumstances. But he could do something:

He strengthened David’s hand in God.

That phrase is worth keeping. 

Good relationships do more than make us feel better. They help us remember God, restore perspective, call courage back into the room, and remind us of truth when fear has become loud.

Jonathan did not make David dependent upon Jonathan. He strengthened him in God.

That is an important distinction.

Healthy spiritual influence does not make people believe they cannot survive without us. It helps them stand more securely in Christ.

Purpose is beautifully expressed when our presence leaves another person’s faith stronger.

Ponder This:

Do I help people become more dependent upon me or stronger in God?

Declaration:

● My influence strengthens others in God.

● I encourage without creating unhealthy dependence.

Prayer of Agreement:

Father, help me in making my relationships spiritually healthy, and  tuse words that strengthen faith, restore perspective, and direct attention toward You.

I receive deliverance from needing to be indispensable.

Let those I encourage become stronger in their own walk with You.
