DON’T SPEND STRENGTH EVERYWHERE

Scripture Anchor:
“And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while…” Mark 6:31 KJV

There will always be another need, another problem, another person who wants your attention, another situation you could become involved in, another good thing you could do.

But here is something we sometimes learn late:

Having the ability to respond does not mean you have the assignment to respond to everything.

Jesus saw needs everywhere, yet even He told His disciples: “Come ye yourselves apart… and rest a while.”

There is no virtue in continually spending yourself until you have nothing left for what God has actually entrusted to you.

GUARD YOUR STRENGTH

Some exhaustion comes from necessary labor; some comes from difficult seasons, some from responsibilities we cannot simply put down, some exhaustion comes because we keep spending strength where wisdom never required the expenditure.

Every argument does not need your response: every crisis does not require your involvement, every request does not require a yes, every problem you can solve is not automatically yours to solve. And every need you notice is not necessarily your assignment.

Compassion needs discernment: otherwise, we can become so occupied helping everywhere that we neglect the people, the responsibilities, and the assignments already entrusted to us.

STEWARDSHIP REQUIRES CHOICE

Your strength is not unlimited, neither is your time, nor your attention. That does not make you selfish. It makes stewardship necessary.

Ask Yourself:

1). What has God actually entrusted to me in this season?

2). What requires my best strength?

3). What responsibilities cannot be continually served with leftovers?

4). Where am I spending energy simply because I feel guilty saying no?

5). Where have I become involved because I can, rather than because I should?

Sometimes preservation means doing more, it means doing less, but doing what matters with greater faithfulness.

MONDAY WARFARE PRAYER

Father, thank You for the strength You have given me and for every responsibility You have entrusted to my care.

Thank You also for giving me wisdom to distinguish between a genuine assignment and an unnecessary expenditure of strength.

Deliver me from guilt-driven activity, needless involvement, and the pressure to respond to everything.

Help me discern when to engage, when to step back, when to rest.

And teach me to give my best strength to what You have actually placed in my hands.

I will not squander my strength.

I will not neglect my responsibilities while attempting to carry what belongs to someone else.

My time, attention, strength, and abilities will be governed by wisdom and directed according to Your will.

In the matchless name of Jesus Christ. Amein.
