MAKE ROOM FOR JOY

Today’s #Snippet

Scripture Anchor

“And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.” Ecclesiastes 3:13 KJV

Apostolic Insight

A life filled with responsibility still needs room to enjoy the goodness of God.

Some people know how to work: they know how to sacrifice, to endure difficult seasons, meet responsibilities, care for others, pray through problems, and keep moving when life becomes demanding.

But they have forgotten how to enjoy anything. There is always another task, another person who needs something, another problem requiring attention, another goal to reach, another burden to carry.

And without realizing it, life can become something we continually manage rather than something we occasionally stop to appreciate.

Ecclesiastes gives us a surprisingly simple truth: Enjoyment is also a gift from God.

There is nothing unspiritual about enjoying a good meal, laughing until your sides hurt, sitting outside on a beautiful day, and listening to music.

And also watching children play, enjoying conversation with someone you love, celebrating something that went well, or taking pleasure in work honestly completed.

Sometimes believers are so accustomed to looking for what needs prayer, correction, warfare, improvement, or attention that we forget to notice what is already good.

We can become excellent at identifying burdens and strangely uncomfortable with blessings: But gratitude is not merely saying, “Thank You, Lord.” Sometimes gratitude sits down long enough to enjoy what God has given.

For example, Jesus attended a wedding. He ate in people’s homes, He received hospitality, He spent time around tables.

Scripture does not present faithful living as endless grim endurance. There is a time to weep. There is also “a time to laugh,” a time to mourn,  also “a time to dance.”

Spiritual self-care includes giving ourselves permission to experience wholesome joy without feeling that we must first finish every responsibility in the world.

Because that day will never come:there will always be something else to do. So notice today’s goodness.

Receive it, Thank God for it, And every now and then; enjoy your life while you are living it.

Ponder This

Have I become so occupied with responsibilities and problems that I no longer notice the ordinary things God has given me to enjoy?

Declaration:

I receive God’s goodness with gratitude.

I will work faithfully, carry responsibility wisely, and also make room for wholesome joy.

I refuse to allow constant pressure to make me forget that life itself is a gift.

#PrayerOfAgreement

Father, thank You for the gift of life and for the goodness You have placed within ordinary days.

Open my eyes to blessings I have stopped noticing; restore laughter even if responsibility has made me too serious.

Restore appreciation even though familiarity has made me indifferent.

Teach me to enjoy what You provide without guilt, excess, or neglect of responsibility.

I receive the people, moments, beauty, provision, accomplishments, conversations, meals, rest, and simple pleasures You graciously allow me to experience.

Keep my heart thankful, my life balanced, and while I continue faithfully fulfilling my assignments, teach me also to recognize when You have placed something good before me that simply needs to be received with gratitude and enjoyed. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, Amein.

Shalom,
