GUARD YOUR ATTENTION

Today’s #Snippet

Scripture Anchor:

“Mine eye affecteth mine heart…” Lamentations 3:51 KJV

Apostolic Insight:

You can be physically present and still have your attention scattered everywhere.

What repeatedly enters through our eyes does not always remain outside us.

Jeremiah’s words give us a simple but profound connection: What I see affects what happens within me.

Our generation carries access to more information than previous generations could have imagined. News, Messages, Videos, Arguments, Tragedies, Opinions, Advertising.

Other people’s achievements, problems, lives. And much of it arrives through something we carry in our hands.

No

This does not require fear of technology or withdrawal from the world. It requires stewardship.

Not everything needs to be watched. Not every argument needs to be followed. Not every notification deserves immediate attention. Not every tragedy needs repeated exposure before we are sufficiently compassionate.

Sometimes spiritual self-care looks remarkably ordinary: Turn it off, put it down. Look outside. Read something nourishing. Have an uninterrupted conversation. Pray.

Give your mind enough quiet to finish one thought before another arrives. Where our attention continually goes, our inner life often follows. Guard it wisely.

Ponder This:

What has been receiving more of my attention than it deserves?

Declaration:

My attention will not be governed by noise.

I choose deliberately what I allow repeated access to my mind and heart.

#PrayerOfAgreement

Father, teach me to steward my attention. Show me what is informing me and what is merely overwhelming me. Give me discipline to turn away from unnecessary noise and wisdom to remain informed without becoming consumed.

Let my mind have room for truth, prayer, thought, relationships, beauty, and Your presence.

In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, Amein.

Shalom,
Hephzibah Christly
