Scripture Anchor

“He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.” Psalm 15:4 KJV

Apostolic Insight:

Purpose loses credibility when character cannot support it.

Psalm 15 describes the person who walks uprightly before God. And among the qualities listed is one we do not discuss nearly enough:

■ A person gives their word and keeps it, even when keeping it becomes inconvenient.

That is integrity.

It is easy to be dependable when circumstances cooperate, but character becomes visible when they do not. 

Then we try to avoid keeping our word with:

● Did I say I would do it?

● Did I make a commitment?

● Did someone arrange their plans based upon my promise?

Refinement brings purpose into everyday reliability:

Appointments, deadlines, promises, responsibilities, returning what we borrowed, following through.

And when circumstances genuinely prevent us from doing what we promised, integrity communicates rather than disappearing.

Spiritual maturity should make people increasingly able to trust our word.

Our public gift should never be more developed than our private dependability.

Ponder This:

Can people safely make plans based upon what I tell them?

Declaration:

▪︎ Integrity governs my commitments.

▪︎ My words and actions will increasingly agree.

Prayer of Agreement:

Father, establish integrity in every area of my life.

Make me thoughtful before I commit and faithful after I do.

Where I have become careless with my word, correct me.

Let reliability become part of the testimony my life carries.
