Have you ever noticed that God is often more concerned about why we do something than what we do?

Scripture Anchor

“All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.”  Proverbs 16:2 KJV

Although most people evaluate actions, God evaluates motives.

That can be uncomfortable because motives are easier to hide than behavior.

For example: We can do the right thing for the wrong reason, appear humble while secretly seeking recognition, and serve faithfully while quietly craving approval.

God sees beyond appearances. He examines the intent of the heart.

Remember: God is not only interested in what we do. He is interested in why we do it.

Warfare Prayer:

Father, thank You for seeing beyond appearances and dealing with us honestly.

Thank You also, for refining our hearts as well as our actions.

Search our motives and reveal anything that does not honor You.

We reject selfish ambition, hidden pride, and misplaced desires.

We declare our motives pure,  our devotion sincerely, and our heart yielded to you always.

In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, Amein.

Shalom,
