To eschew is to avoid, evade, or shun doing wrong.
Bible Base:
Job 1:8
1 Thessalonians 5:22
“Abstain from every form of evil”(BSB)
Job was a man who eschewed evil. He never utilized the opportunities to do wrong. He stayed upright.
Though he faced some life changing circumstances, the devil could not upstage him.
Make time to read the book of Job.
Stop and think about you!
How would you rate your integrity?
Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody’s watching.
Quit making excuses for lying, cheating, shoplifting, retaliating, etc.
A person with strong moral principles is incorruptible.
You did not have to do that wrong, but you chose to indulge. You need to work on your values.
When you indulge in sinful acts, you open up routes for satan and his forces of evil to attack you.
Satan is that adversary who is roaming about looking for whom to devour (I Peter 5:8)
You resist him by being steadfast in faith.
Understand that you have weaknesses and work at turning them to areas of strength.
How can you be accepting of generational evils, are complacent about it, and then complain about your troubles?
Your present troubles are the result of your complacency in sinning like an unbeliever.
It’s not ancestral curses. Its you who watered the seeds sown by your ancestors and are now reaping the harvest.
Although you are not accountable for the sins of your ancestors, you are responsible for creating a suitable environment for the curses to alight, when you do not avoid evil.
Be that Christian who knows God and is determined to do the right thing even if nobody is watching.
Christianity is a lifestyle which involves doing God’s will and doing good things to others for God’s sake.
Eschew evils- if you want to see good days.
Let Us Pray:
Father God, thank you for your grace that is at work in and through us.
We admit that we have taken advantage of opportunities to do wrong, have lied, used swear words, cheated, stolen, etc , behaviors that called our Christianity into question.
We receive forgiveness of sins, and cleansing from all unrighteousness.
Thank you also for silencing all the voices of accusations, and for working in us to run away from all appearances of evil (Thessalonians 5:22)
We stand against the slave mentality and declare that we are servants of righteousness.
We declare that our lives will from henceforth be the definition of uprightness, integrity and loyalty to God.
Our lifestyles will attract people to God.
We disconnect from all behaviors and actions that causes people to despise Christians.
Use us for Your glory Father, and restore to us, the joy of salvation, in the matchless name of Jesus.
