Bible Reading:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7 NASB1995)
Introduction:
Many of us suffer from anxiety attacks. Not because we lack faith but because we are masters at overthinking.
Anxiety is a state of uneasiness and distress that plague individuals, about future certainties.
Sources of Anxiety:
People experience anxiety as stress builds up until it can noonger be suppressed.
With the recent world health crises, an increasing number of people are disabled. And with the world economic downturns, rising costs of living, increasing competition at the marketplace and scarcity of jobs puts pressure on people.
The modernistic materialistic pursuits are also pushing people to the limit. The lust for bigger homes, and better technologies, faster mobility, etc are fertile grounds for anxiety build up.
The social ambiguity of roles between genders is creating more confusion in the minds of people. Relationships are getting more stressful, marriages are falling apart, more one-parent families are springing up, with its relative stress that not many can comprehend.
Procrastination is a major cause of anxiety. People tend to put off unpleasant tasks and focus on the more enjoyable ones.
However, the tasks they put off, looms ever larger in their minds disturbingly. They get anxious about the possibility of ever completing it.
You can Overcome Anxiety Attacks:
1- Develop an attitude of Thanksgiving:
Remember that in our previous discussions on Healings, we stated that you must learn how to confront all life’s issues first from a spiritual perspective.
a.- Shun the negative supernatural:
Because the spiritual controls the physical. you need to tune in to the Spirit realm in order to resolve your anxiety issues.
The spirit realm consists of two realms- the negative where satan and his forces of evil control; and the positive supernatural where Jesus Christ is the King.
When negative thoughts fill your mind, cast it down and make your thoughts subject to the Word of faith that you know.
b.- Pray to God;
Prayer is the acceptable way of communicating with God who is Spirit. And in approaching God, you come with a gratitude attitude. You are commanded to “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4 NASB1995)
When you feel anxiety coming on, unbottle your emotions to God with absolute candor and raw emotion.
Do not hold back from ventilating to God at the place of prayers.
#PrayerPoints4Today (10 mins)
As you go into a prayer session, have something handy to put down whatever drops into your spirit. So that you can review your notes after prayers .
a-. Put into practice what we just discussed today worship God in songs or pray in tongues but with a gratitude attitude. REFRAIN FROM MURMURING.
b-. Talk to God about the issues that are making you anxious. Open up your deepest thoughts to God and it will help you put things in perspective. And you will receive clarity on what to do next.
Continues tomorrow;
